What is "Creative Counseling?"
What if I'm not a creative person?
Our psychotherapists are trained in traditional talk therapy, but can add creative, therapeutic activities into your sessions, if that's what you want.
Our therapy is meant to reach the whole you--mind, body, and spirit!

You don't have to a creative person to benefit from our services! Our therapists can guide you through any number of creative activities. And, if you only want talk therapy, we offer that, too.

We use techniques from
Expressive Arts
Theraplay
Sand Tray Therapy
Brainspotting
Meditation & Mindfulness
Yoga & Dance
Bibliotherapy
Narrative Therapy & Journaling
Drama & Movement
and Pet-Assisted Therapy--
courtesy of ours puppies Mitzy and Lilly!

This is Mitzy, our little blessing. She's a King Charles Cavalier and Mini Aussie Shepherd. She's very empathetic. She might crawl into your lap when you're distressed, or snuggle up when you're blue!

This is Lilly. But her nickname is "Bubbles," because she has so much positive energy! She's a Mini Bernese Mountain dog and her father is a poodle.

Creative Counseling of Milwaukee’s owner and leadership team is Sarah LaFollette, LCSW, Sarah Rosenblatt, LCSW, and Craig Stone, MAC, LPC. Together they have over fifty years of experience serving Milwaukee’s diverse communities.
They founded Creative Counseling in 2018 because they wanted an agency where clients could heal and grow using the in-born creativity we all possess.

Their care is strengths-based, culturally sensitive, evidenced-based, and trauma-informed.

You deserve to be happy! We all have troubles, and need help at times. I can help guide you. But, you hold the key to getting better–because you know yourself better than anyone. We’ll work together in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space.

I specialize in building a person’s self-esteem so they can achieve life goals, have caring relationships, and be the person they want to be. I work with all ages. My preferred therapy styles include strengths-based talk therapy, CBT, Brainspotting, Play Therapy, and meditation for deep-seated trauma, whether from childhood, sexual, emotional, or physical abuse or neglect.
Whether you suffer from PTSD, relationship troubles, anxiety, depression, or bipolar or other disorders, my therapy can help. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals! Please email or call if you’re interested. We can chat to see if we’re a good match.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
–Emily Dickinson.
Hope begins the journey for each of us to become the person we want to be. With unconditional positive regard and someone who listens, we naturally gravitate to feel comfort in who we are. We can move toward health, self-discovery, and compassion for ourselves and others.
I’m passionate about being a part of a person’s journey, focusing on their strengths and resilience. For instance, if a person becomes comfortable in their body, healing and growth can begin.
I like to work with all ages. For instance, I practice Theraplay, a modality that fosters a positive, warm, relationship between a parent/caregiver and a child. Each person can learn to regulate emotions, and improve communication. I also practice Jungian Sand Tray Therapy and Brainspotting, in addition to various forms of talk therapy. I support people who want to use art, writing, dance, and yoga in their healing process.
Everyone is worthy of being heard and accepted for who they are, and who they want to be. I’m passionate about watching people become their genuine selves. Contact me if you’d like a free consultation.

--Sarah Rosenblatt, LCSW, Co-Founder, Managing Partner, Child & Family Therapist.

I believe that everyone deserves to be happy, and that everyone possesses qualities that make them special and unique. So my treatments focus on your strengths. You are an expert in your life and experience, and so as a team we can help you with your struggles, large or small.

I help all ages, using just about every technique listed above. I usually practice Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. For example, once we find and understand why we did not make a positive choice, we can focus on trying to do better the next time, rather than blaming ourselves.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
We celebrate all sizes, genders, ages, cultures, sexes, religions, beliefs & backgrounds. We've helped newcomers from Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Laos, Mexico, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Uganda, & Vietnam, among other places. We're familiar with different cultures and the customs of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Indigenous & ancestral religions, Islam, Judaism, and contemporary belief-systems. Whoever you are, you're welcome. We're here to help you heal & grow!
Everyone deserves to be heard.
We're culturally competent and proud of our diversity. We’re aware that our community benefits some more than others, that there are many institutional barriers to equality, and that the problems and prejudices of the past have not gone away. We’re in your corner, and here to help.
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
We’re strengths-based because we know that people heal and grow when they feel good about themselves. We practice unconditional positive regard. Not only for you, our clients. We support our staff in their work and their goals, so they can be the best at who they want to be.
Everyone deserves the best care.
We’re trauma-informed, and use evidence-based methods. We stay current with the latest research & methods so that you have the best opportunity to cope and thrive.
Everyone has their own struggles and desires.
We believe every client is an expert in who they are, and what they want. We honor that by making sure you are a full participant in the therapeutic process.
Everyone deserves the chance to explore.
You can take advantage of a variety of therapeutic tools & activities we provide. Our office is filled with art, music & craft supplies. We have a dance/meditation/yoga room, and a sandtray & dress up room as well.
Everyone deserves the freedom to choose.
We’re flexible. Our session plans can be modified at any time. If something is not working for you, we’ll gladly make a change. We’re flexible & want your feedback.
